My favorite

I got two of these from older inktober boxes and I love them. The paper is nice and I love the fact that they lay flat when open so I did a lot of spreads across both pages. I think it’s time for me to order more!

Best sketch book ~and beautiful hardcover!

Best sketch book ~and beautiful hardcover! I’ve enjoyed working on my sketch studies with this book. The paper is a strong, thick quality that brings ideas to life without breaking easily. Important when using many layers. The cover itself is protective and a lovely purple shade I adore. Thank you ArtSnacks, for your products and excellent service!

Perfectly acceptable

I've gone through one and a half of these bad boys-- the smaller book goes with ny to my 9-to-5-- and while they admittedly have a weakness to water based media. That's to be expected.

I'm terms of construction, it's held up pretty well to existing inside of my purse, and the cover feels robust and looks/feels good on its own without restricting me from making it tacky by slapping stickers all over it.

I'd say the biggest issue I've had so far is with dip pen and ink. The paper doesn't handle that level of ink without some feathering, so doing detail work with a g nib or blue pumpkin (or pentel brush) isn't gonna happen, but the paper doesnt tear from the dip pen.
Overall pretty good for the price!

I'm enjoying it so far

I wanted to try a square sketchbook again but it was important that the paper was archival ( which the illo paper is not). I decided to try this one and so far I'm liking it. I already knew that markers would bleed through, which was fine by me since I tend to cut out marker or mixed media paper and stick it to the other side, that isn't a problem for me.
If you're looking for paper to handle watercolor or even light washes, this isn't for you. It doesn't handle wet media well, I've even tested my tombow markers and tried doing a light wash. However if you don't mind the bleed through of markers, want to just use pen/pencil, maybe gouache, this works. Again, I've gotten into the habit of sticking marker paper or mixed media paper into sketchbooks that don't do well with one or the other. Hope this helps!
